This week has been a little rough. Being sick most of last week and trying to get back into the swing of things with work and working out has been challenging. My editorial calendar has been the most affected so I’m throwing caution to the wind today and just doing a little thinking out loud. As always thanks to Amanda at Running With Spoons for the linkup!
On Monday my good buddy Lisa tagged me to Take the Leap with prAna and SweatPink’s 30 days of yoga challenge. As someone who has really gotten into yoga over the past year I decided to give it a try (and I can’t say no to Lisa!) I am happy to report that I’ve been to yoga twice this week (holla!) and plan to incorporate at least 5 minutes of some activity daily to meet this challenge, be it practicing breathing or a simple stretch and/or pose. Part of accepting this challenge is a fun little mad lib:
I’m not tagging anyone else but if you’re interested in getting your Om on – visit the “Take the Leap” event page for more info, check out Lisa’s post, and follow and tag prAna and FitApproach on social media to enter for a chance to win a $500 gift card to prAna (whose stuff I looooove p.s. and by the way) for you and a friend!
— Earlier this week I mentioned my acceptance for the 2nd time as a Feetures! Ambassador – with this year being added to their “Elite” team. Well amidst all the other craziness going on at work and getting over this strep thing I’ve had even more good news this week. Some time ago SELF Magazine reached out to me (on the recommendation of my pal Meghan from FitCrasher!) as they were working on a program called “SELF Starters” an exclusive club made up of highly curated members.
As a part of this group I have an opportunity to create my own content, attend or host events, try products – and possibly be featured in the magazine! I’ve been waiting with bated breath for weeks on the news and yesterday was informed that I’ve officially been accepted as a SELF Starter. Yay! As I’ve thought about growth for me personally and professionally, opportunities like this definitely support my interests and goals so it’s great when they come along.
I, like a lot of bloggers, receive a countless number of solicitations and promotional opportunities and turn down more than I accept quite frankly. Just the other day I said no to a sponsored post for an everyday product because while I use it – I couldn’t see myself actively promoting it, regardless of the compensation involved. In general I’m not a big fan of sponsored posts at all (so you won’t see many here) but do know they have a place in the marketing (and blogging) world. I’ve said before it is so easy to get caught up in all the “stuff” that blogging brings but if it doesn’t feel right to you or fit your voice – just say no.
Anyway – I’m pretty excited to represent 2 brands I know and love and look forward to what’s ahead! And those are my Thursday thoughts 🙂
Do you practice yoga? Are you up for Taking the Leap (or already doing it?!). How do you feel about sponsored posts – like ’em or leave ’em?
