Friday Five: Show Some Blogger Love

Happy Friday Five everyone! Super excited about today’s topic. Cynthia, Courtney and I have done “Blogs to Love” a couple of times already like here and here 🙂 I love seeing who you all read and recommend. I’m offering a bit of a twist today with 5 Ways to Show Some Blogger Love. Whether a new or veteran blogger building and sustaining a community can be hard work. But it’s always nice to show appreciation to your fellow bloggers, particularly those whose words inspire, encourage or just make you smile! FF Blogger Love

Comment away! It’s not enough to just say “great topic” “good site” “thanks”. If you truly want to show some blogger love don’t be shy – comment! The more specific and genuine you can be the better. If a blogger asks questions at the end of the post – answer them! These are great conversation starters.  If you really liked or enjoyed a post, say so! By not engaging, both blogger and reader are doing themselves a disservice to learn, connect and grow. (Hey, go give Jennifer a comment at Running on Lentils!)

Guest Post. Have a favorite blogger or want to network with a group of bloggers? Ask them to guest post on your site. Nothing shows blogger love more than highlighting someone else on your page. (MCM Mama has had some sweet guest posts on fellow bloggers sites!)

Link Love. 🙂 When I come across a really profound article or blog post I note it. Then when the time is right I’ll refer to it in a blog post. What does the time is right mean? Well, sometimes reading other posts inspires something in me to write on a particular topic or I see so much goodness in a short time frame I want to do a round up post. Whatever the case may be (cough Friday Five linkup cough) linking back to another blogger is a great way to share content and show some blogger love. (Always profound, my gal Susie at SuzLyfefight-your-fight-meme-suz

Sharing is Caring! Since I mentioned sharing Pin it, Tweet it, Stumble it. If you like a particular post or photo, share the love. Bloggers work hard (well, some of us… 😉 ) to write engaging and prolific content. Blogging (particularly consistently) isn’t always easy. It’s also a great way to get to know other bloggers. (and I would hope by now you’re following my co-hosts who really like to share the blogging love (cheating I know) Eat Pray Run DC and You Signed Up for What?!)

Love YOURSELF first. It’s great to love other bloggers, share, build community, etc. but don’t forget about who you are as part of the equation. Put some thought and care into your blog and social media platforms not only so you can do all of the above but so others can do all of the above for YOU! And if someone isn’t showing interest in you or your blog, move on and find others that matter to you. (Since it’s Friday, 5 of my favorites for their positive energy, Run Salt Run, Back at Square Zero, Run With No Regrets, Run Away With Kristen K, This Mama Runs for Cupcakes.)

Who are some of your favorite bloggers? How do you like to share the blogger love? What’s on tap for the weekend?!

  1. I like to share the blogger love by linking up and helping promote other bloggers’ posts on Twitter. Some of my favorite running bloggers are Tara @RunningNReading, Courtney @EatPrayRunDC, Run Salt Run, Lilly @LilyRunstheWorld, and–of course–you, Mar!

Thanks for the hosting the link-up, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  2. I love this! I recently started a blog and have been reading other blogs and commenting where I have relevant input. I’ve noticed it has helped my readership a lot. I’ve been thinking about weekly guest bloggers to help too. Thanks for the tips.

  3. Good suggestions! Sometimes I get so involved in a comment that I’ve written a paragraph and wonder if people think I’m crazy. But I guess I like those kind of comments better than the two word ones because it inspires thought and discussion. Happy Friday!

  4. Before I started blogging, I’d never read another blog – now every time I put up a morning post, I find myself reading at least 3-5 (or let’s be real, 10) other posts immediately just to see what others are up to! It definitely enhances the sense of community and connection among people who share a passion for what they are blogging about.

  5. I have discovered so many amazing blogs (and their bloggers!) through this amazing link up, Mar; I’m so grateful to you, Courtney & Cynthia for introducing this great community to me. I feel like reading others’ blogs is a way for me to keep up with what’s going on in their lives and show them that I care; you all are my virtual friends! Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for another great Friday Five!

    1. thanks 🙂 something out of the norm! definitely agree with on commenting. you can find so many cool people to connect with!! speaking of, we need to have dinner soon and finish our beach convo 🙂

  8. These are great tips! I agree, comment love and interaction is really key. I made the switch to WP because I thought it might be easier to get a conversation going in comments as compared to Blogger.

    Happy Friday!

  9. I am SO bad about commenting. I’ve been blogging since 2006 and I follow so many, but I need to remind myself to get more engaged. These linkups have helped a ton!
