Friday Five: Favorite Race Swag

Greetings from NYC!! It may take me some time to get to comments/visits to your blogs this weekend but I”ll get there. Joining my other traveling gals Cynthia and Courtney for the Friday Five this week where we are all about race swag. Hope you will join us! If you are new around here or need a refresher, please review our Friday Five linkup rules. We WILL delete your post if it doesn’t adhere to our linkup guidelines πŸ™‚

IMG_20150716_215139Whether included in your race registration fee, earned at the finish line or available for purchase we runners love our Race Swag!! I have so many favorites I don’t even know where to start and had a tough time narrowing things down to 5 but here we go πŸ™‚

1. Favorite Race Shirts. Hands down the lime green one I got recently at the Medina Half. It is SO comfy cozy and just adorable with the little buzz design. Another close first is the black one I received from running the ZOOMA 10K a couple of years ago. I just noticed it is made form Skirt Sports (a new love of mine!) and now I know why it fits so perfectly.Β race shirts marontherun.com

2. Pint Glasses. Very rarely do races give these as part of your race swag package (and hint hint races – YOU NEED TO!!) but I love when I can find them for sale at an expo. Pint Glasses marontherun.comI have a couple more I didn’t photograph – namely the first one I bought from Rock n Roll DC a couple of years ago. My second ever half marathon and the race that really made me believe I had 13.1 continuous miles in me πŸ™‚Β

3. Races are getting wise to offering more than the plastic (and wasteful) Swag Bags. I received this mini cloth bag from the Cocoa Women’s Classic and I LOVE it!! I travel with it frequently using it for toiletries. It’s the absolute perfect size!swag bag marontherun.com4. Medals. My 3 favorites (outside of my first marathon of course). Medina Half, Crawlin Crab Half and the Arroyo Creek Half (notice a living creature theme here?)Β medals marontherun.com

5. Favorite all around swag. MCM marontherun.comI didn’t care for the brown race shirt I received from MCM last year so snagged this awesome Brooks shirt at the Expo, which is one of the best expos I’ve ever been too. I wear this shirt all the time and of course, I had to include my Marine Corps (and first!) Marathon medal πŸ™‚

What is the most originalΒ swag you’ve seen/received? What are you up to this lovely weekend?Β

  1. I too love the glasses and I haven’t received one of these yet in a race. I did get a water bottle from one that I use a lot. I love it when the swag is something that you will use! In the Mercedes we received beach towels and they could not have planned it better as it rained that day! Thanks so much for the link up!

  2. the crawlin crab medal is SO CUTE!
ive actually never bought a pint glass-I dont think I have ever seen one at any of the races out here. At disney races, everyone is obsessed with the wine glasses and tumblers haha

  3. I love the cloth bags instead of disposable bags! That is something that really endears a race to me. I also love races that give reusable water bottles at the end instead of disposable bottles. Hope you’re having a great weekend πŸ™‚

  4. I mean, I can’t even believe your favorite race swag wasn’t the picture of you, me and my boobs I texted you after PGH. CRUSHED. πŸ™‚

That bumblebee shirt is adorable. Items I’d actually use or wear are so important. Ditch the crappy plastic bag, please.

  5. Mar, that shirt from the Medina Half has got to be one of the best ones ever! And what about that bag from the Cocoa Women’s Classic?!? That is TOO cool! Hope you’re having a blast this weekend; can’t wait to hear all about your adventures!
