Friday Five: Favorite Summer Drinks!

Wow, I cannot believe it’s Friday already and there is only one more week left in July. What happened to this summer because it is zipping by?!! Just a week ago I was hanging out in NYC for Blogher15 and it feels like yesterday. I posted my conference recap earlier  so go check that out if you missed it. In other fun news, I was just accepted as a coach for Girls on the Run DC this fall – YAY!!!!

And in even more fun news Cynthia, Courtney and I are hosting a DC Fitness Bloggers Brunch!! For those living in or visiting the DC area please join us on Saturday, August 8 at 11 am. You can RSVP here (Google doc) and location will be updated soon. There will be plenty of giveaways so make sure you RSVP to be eligible 🙂

FF Summer Drinks marontherun.comNow on to the Friday Five!! This week Cynthia, Courtney and I went with a theme of favorite summer drinks. I know I hydrate a lot in the warmer months so definitely a timely topic!

  • First and foremost is water, water and more water! I recently bought these great infusion bottles from Femme Fitale Fit Club. It tracks your drinking levels and has reminder lines for refilling!! Go get one now 🙂 .
  • Freshly brewed Iced Green Tea. Sure I’ll get it from the coffee shop but there is nothing like brewing it at home with mint and lemon 🙂 For an extra kick I’ll sometimes brew it with Peppermint Tea instead.
  • Iced Coffee. Dunkin. Enough Said.
  • Mojitos!!! even better if I’m chilling on the beach!
  • Margaritas – Frozen and Strawberry to be exact. It’s bad news I have a Mexican restaurant in walking distance to my house…

What is your go to summer drink?  Make them yourself or do you have a favorite spot? Who’s local and joining us for brunch?

      1. OMG, how did I forget about Sangria???!?! let me add that as 5a 😉 Let me know when in November! I’m traveling a bit but would love to see you 🙂

      1. the one thing about Dunkin is they put it in for you. Sometimes you get an overzealous person with the creamer 😉

    1. I am a water and seltzer machine! I couldn’t come up with 5 drinks so I went with 5 Things I am Loving This Summer 🙂 Stop by and tell me yours! Thanks for the link up!

Congrats on the Girls on The Run. Schedule wise I have never been able to swing coaching but I have volunteered with them a bunch in Chicago. Great organization!

      1. I’ve never been able to swing coaching either so I’m very happy it worked out this time! Will go check out your post 🙂

    1. Oh, my gosh…mojitos. This should definitely have been on my list, since that’s pretty much how I enjoyed my entire birthday week – ha! Thanks so much for hosting another great Friday Five, Mar; hope you have a great weekend!

      1. haha, I like it but don’t go nearly as often as I probably could given its proximity. Luckily there are a string of other restaurants and a grocery store nearby!

    1. Those are some great summer drinks! I also love mojitos! They remind me of vacation! I am all about water in the summer time too and all the infused water bottles are great to carry around to keep sipping :-). Have a great weekend!

    1. I also love margaritas in the summer! And getting them from a Mexican restaurant makes them instantly taste better. Though I normally just make mine at home to save money. 🙂 I don’t think I have ever had a strawberry one, but when we were in Santa Fe last month, I discovered that they sometimes make theirs with jalapeno juice instead of lime juice. It was DISJUSTING. Worst $14 I ever spend on a margarita. 🙁

      1. doesn’t have to be special, just ago to that cools you off 😉 I love iced tea – but I only drink it in the summer. i enjoy green tea year round!

    1. Heck yes to a good margarita at a mexican place! I also live down the street from a mexican restaurant. They make an incredible “black” margarita with a burbon barrel aged tequila!

      1. I know, i’m excited! I miss New England Dunkin… it’s just not the same everywhere else. And I can’t believe I forgot about Sangria!!!

    1. I think all the Friday Five drink posts inspired me today because I went to the Teavana shop in the mall and got an iced tea making kit and a big old container of blueberry/vanilla roobioos and white tea. I’ve never tried iced green tea but I figure this will be pretty close!

    1. I have a Mexican restaurant in walking distance to my house as well. It is definitely a blessing and a curse haha.
