Happy Thursday folks, we’re almost to the weekend! I’ve seen this running survey floating around the interwebs so thought I’d keep it lighthearted and fun on this Thursday. Check out my Year in Running post if you missed that last week.
1)… Would you rather run along a beach path or on a mountain trail?
Beach all the way!
2)… If you could choose the flavor of Gatorade at your next race’s aid stations, what would it be?
Keep it simple with lemon-lime. Any other flavors plus the added sugar would turn me off. My hydration of choice of course is Ultima Replenisher but I can handle Gatorade at most races. Oh and hey, use my ambassador code to receive 35% off your order. My faves? Grape and Lemonade!!
3)… If I gave you a $100 gift card to a running store, what would be the first thing that you would purchase with it?
Duh, shoes! Whatever the latest model of Asics Cumulus is available. I have the 15s, 16s, and now 17s.
4)… Do you prefer to follow a training plan or wake up and decide then how far and how fast you want to run?
Both. Training plan for sure when I have a specific race I’m aiming for. During race downtimes I prefer to just run 🙂 .
5)… Would you rather start your run with the uphill and end on the downhill or start your run with the downhill and end with the uphill?
I’d rather start uphill and get it done. Sadly DC is hilly so this plan never works out for me on my training runs, lol.
6)… When you can’t run, what type of cross-training do you choose to do?
7)… What is your preference—> Out and back, point to point or loop runs?
My preference is loop. You get to see more of the city you’re in (a la Milwaukee) and you don’t get bored. Point to point courses can be scenic as well but sometimes a nightmare with parking and waiting for a shuttle (Beach to Beacon). Out and back are ok for shorter distance races but preference is definitely for loop courses!
8)… If you could recommend ANY running related item to a new runner, it would be a—>
Getting fitted for and purchasing properly fitted shoes. So critical.
9)… Do you ever see any wild animals while out on your runs?
Squirrels and Deer, that’s about as wild as it gets in urban DC. Though on some trails there is some beautiful bird life like Cardinals and Blue Jays if you can catch them. Never mind the runner attacking owl we have on a local trail (I’ve never run into him!)
10)… Ever gotten lost while out on a run?

11)… If you could have one meal waiting and ready for you each time you got home from a run for the next 30 days… what would that meal be?

12)… Capris or shorts… what do you run in most often?
Capri’s definitely. I cannot wear shorts (the whole ride up factor). But when it’s warm running skirts all the way.
13)… At what mile (or how many minutes) into your run does your body start to feel like it is warming up and ready to go?
It takes me 3 miles to get myself together and settle in for the long haul. Hence the reason 5k’s are so hard! (yes, I said hence…) 😉
14)… What do you do with your key when you run?
Hold it in my hand. I have this thing where I need to hold something while I run for circulation. If I’m carrying my phone too then I’ll put the key in a pocket or my Spibelt.
15)… If you could relive any race that you have done in the past, which one would it be?
Marine Corps Marathon. It was such a fun first time marathon experience…… but knowing what I know now, I wish I could have a do-over as it didn’t go the way I would have liked. While I can run other marathons I’ll never have another first marathon.
