Happy Birthday America!! Hope those of you in the states have had a marvelous July 4th weekend. I’ve enjoyed a few days hanging out in Pittsburgh with the family. Lately both my running and blogging has been sporadic – a trend that’ll continue through the summer but today, I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for the Weekly Wrap. I can’t believe how quickly June ended and July began!
Monday: Indoor Cycling at Zengo Cycle
Tuesday: 3 mile walk (1.5 miles to/from the gym) + Body Pump. We also had a classmate visiting DC from Panama, so my gals and I made the most of it and had a girls nights out at Lia’s – a delicious Italian place just north of DC. I’m already plotting when I can go back for their amazing Risotto Balls appetizer!
Wednesday: Indoor Cycling at Zengo Cycle. Wednesdays at noon are becoming my new favorite! The instructor, Blake works us OUT! So fun.
Thursday: SUP time on the Potomac. Before taking off for the weekend, I wanted one last hang out with my friend, Gaby before she headed home to Panama. Check out my 5 reasons you should give SUP a try!
Friday: Power Yoga Flow @ Yoga Innovations. I headed to Pittsburgh for the holiday weekend and after spending a few hours in the car, needed to get the stiffness out! I love this little hot yoga studio in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Drop in classes are $15 or less and they cater to all ages, children and families. The flow was amazing and I was completely drenched when it was over. I love having dependable, go to places when I travel!
Saturday: Ford City 5K. It’s been a week since I last ran but since I was coming to town, Kristy asked me to join her at this small town local 5K, uh like a few days ago. Haha. Ford City is about 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh and the race didn’t start until 9 am. It was a beautiful morning and perfect day for a race. I always forget 5ks are hard. Naturally I had no strategy going into this run and definitely went out way too fast… The only thing that sometimes stinks about small, local races is when they use gun time. But – it was fun and flat and still a sub-30 minute effort. (clearly we didn’t finish in 1:33! this was post waiting for her speedy finish award!)
Afterwards we hit up Redfin Blues, this cute waterfront seafood restaurant to watch the boats and enjoy some seafood and beers. It was my first time there and will NOT be my last. OMG, so good. Fish Tacos FTW!
Sunday: I was initially going to rest but it was SO beautiful outside. High 60s in the early afternoon with just a slight wind and low humidity. I couldn’t not run. So I set out for 4 easy miles before grilling and chilling with the family.
All in all a terrific holiday weekend. I still have another month before I formally start half marathon training again so cheers to easy runs and more summer fun!
How was your weekend? Any plans to watch 4th of July fireworks? DC’s may get rained out!
